Postby gagudelop on Wed Sep 25, 2013 7:01 pm

Hi guys,

Error (last two lines in /home/username/.xsession-errors):
(gnome-settings-daemon:3497): PackageKit-WARNING **: couldn't parse execption 'GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._pk_5ftransaction_5ferror.Code4: GetDistroUpgrades not supported by backend', please report

(gnome-settings-daemon:3497): updates-plugin-WARNING **: failed to get upgrades: GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._pk_5ftransaction_5ferror.Code4: GetDistroUpgrades not supported by backend

When:
Yesterday I updated the system (lot of files) 24/09/2013

Description:
I start the system and before the login window shows the mouse appears as a thinking clock and stays like that for ever. That terminal is the tty7. I can access the other ttys

My PC is a HP Pavilion Slimline with a LG Flatron IPS226 Monitor.

Please, give me advices, how to access my PC window manager.

Thank you for help.

I found the way to the solution:

1. Login into an other tty
2. start startx wm
3. Got error, where dependencies were not found and xterm were not in /usr/bin
4. I tried to install xterm (apt-get --install xterm), but it produced an error and a proposal to run "dpkg --configure -a"
5. Running dpkg found some inconsitencies and I selected "I" for install
6. Repeated step 4: produced dependencies errors. System proposal: apt-get -f install
7. Run proposal
8. Repeated step 4. Every thing OK
9. Run startx. OK
10. After restaring the machine the normal used wm appears correctly.

Still to check UP7

Thanks for the attention.
