I have a mixture of songs all in MP3 format for my MP3 player.
Some songs were transfered from CD's (WAV format) and some were recorded from LP's using Audacity and saved initially in FLAC format. The CD origin songs are a reasonable volume but the LP origin songs are much too soft. The volume control on MP3 players cannot increase the volume to a reasonable level.
Is there a way of increasing the volume please? (preferably in bulk!)

There is a utility called mp3gain which can probably do exactly what you want with command , or you can use the * wildcard if all files are in one folder.
The "suite" of commandline apps, mp3gain to change volume, mp3splt to split files (no, it is not a typo, it's really named mp3splt) and mp3wrap to recombine split files, do all this without decoding and encoding mp3 files so there is no loss of quality. I have used all of them a great deal and would recommend them to all who make use of mp3 files.
