I bought a DVD (from OSDisc.com) and tried to install Linux Mint 15 on my XP as a dual boot. When I select Linux, the screen tells me that it is completing Linux Mint installation, then displays "Linux 15" after which it re-boots. The second time it displays a grey screen before it re-boots.
I have an XP Professinoal with service pack 3. It has a 1.15g AMD Athlon processor, a 41.09 g HD with 5 g free.
What do I need to do?
Thanks.

Re: Can't Start Linux 15 on XP
Reset!
I decided to free up some memory, and the result was that I now have 300 mb available. So, I misread the scan: 5g was really 5m! Clearly insufficient. But there were no warning messages. And I booted in the safe mode, whatever that means.
All seems well now. I haven't had time to evaluate it, but it looks okay.

Re: Can't Start Linux 15 on XP
You appear to be confusing "memory" with "disk space". What you most likely freed up was "disk space" -- as there is no way that any Linux distro is going to require 5Gb of "memory".
Re: Can't Start Linux 15 on XP
I was confused, but it was disk space that I was talking about. And the installed Linux takes 9g of disk space.
Thanks.

5. Resize XP using Easeus Partition Master
