How do I get music player icon back to system tray?

Postby raqua on Wed Nov 13, 2013 5:19 pm

After upgrade of Cinnamon (I believe it was somewhere between 2.0.6 and 2.0.8 ) I can not get my Clementine icon to system tray. It was there before, but now it is not. Instead sound applet changes it's icon to note and I can control Clementine from there.
The issue is that I am used to adjust volume of player by using scroll wheel on the icon as I only want to change volume of Clementine, not my overall volume. Getting to playlist also now takes more than before and I really dislike that.
How can I get my icon back please?!

It is caused by this commit: https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/pull/2479
I have reported to the devs about this.

Hi
I have done a systray applet configurable here
and I've not add Clementine as hidden icons yet. I think that can help you in the mean time

I'll add an option to make hidden player visible in the next upgrade.

Maybe I am not getting it at all, but ...

1) I tried your applet, installed it, added it to panel and could not see anything, just icons moved a bit to the left. I could not click anything, not did I noticed any visual change. Am I doing something wrong? It does not seem to be working on my machine.

2) I am not sure that this solves my problem, explain maybe?

Thank you for response though.

Have you remove the default system tray applet ? Maybe that's why you don't see anything.

I think your Clementine Icon disapear is because Clementine is considered now as hidden icon in th default system tray applet (here). and I don't add this in mine yet

Aha, ok, that did the trick. That was the part I misunderstood that the old systray must be removed first.
Thank you very much.
