problem installing UFW

Post by Riko »

Hi all,

I try to install ufw but get the following error in synaptics:

E: ufw: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

It seems to be installed but not configured.

Any hints? Thanks!

OK, does not actually seem to be a problem with ufw but with a bad /etc/init.d file of minidlna:
Setting up ufw (0.31.1-2) ...
update-rc.d: warning: start and stop actions are no longer supported; falling back to defaults
insserv: warning: script 'modules_load_battery' missing LSB tags and overrides
insserv: There is a loop between service minidlna and modules_load_battery if stopped
insserv: loop involving service modules_load_battery at depth 2
insserv: loop involving service minidlna at depth 1
insserv: Stopping modules_load_battery depends on minidlna and therefore on system facility `$all' which can not be true!
insserv: exiting now without changing boot order!
update-rc.d: error: insserv rejected the script header
dpkg: error processing ufw (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
if I move /etc/init.d/mindnla to something else, ufw is configured properly.

Why don't you remove minidlna package if you don't need it?

Ah... but if you remove the file from /etc/init.d, it won't start automatically.

BTW, I looked at its package info page and found out that it's been removed from Testing just a few days after the snapshot for UP7 has been taken. So it won't be in UP8. Besides, there are a few security holes.

That's OK. I don't intend to start it automatically anyway but launch it from the terminal when I actually want to use it. So I think for me this work-around will do, but of course it's not really a solution, so I don't mark the thread as solved.

Hmm, that's too bad. I guess I have to compile it from sources then or find an alternative dnla server. Thanks for pointing that out.

Cheers!

ps: (Edit:) I guess rygel could be an alternative.
