The VLC plugin didn't work, either. I tried other plugins as well, but no luck....
Re: Streaming Audio
Unless it is a mission-critical issue, there are plenty of other sites that are designed to stream without suffering through proprietary file formats. Sites such as http://www.di.fm , http://www.sky.fm , and http://www.somafm.com all have plenty of excellent listening choices. These streams are also easily added to a Rhythmbox playlist for your listening pleasure. Have fun!

The link I provided above is for my favorite local radio station. If there's any plugin that'll work, let me know.

Re: Streaming Audio
I did, but like I wrote, it works for me, wich makes me think that there is something ANGKNGG with your mplayer plugin!Sasafrass452 wrote:Please read my original post again....

Re: Streaming Audio
I don't know why, but it just doesn't work. It keeps trying to connect, & I think it gives an error, but it goes too fast to read. Should I make a video clip with my camera to show you what I mean? I've tried other plugins, but nothing seems to work.

Re: Streaming Audio
Well, I've been trying to play my favorite radio station via Rhythmbox, but all I hear are 2 ads playing over & over. Is there some way to make this work?
Re: Streaming Audio
I'm reviving this thread, because I STILL have this issue.... The website in question now requires Microsoft's silverlight. Is there a plugin that might make this work? The mplayer plugin DOES NOT WORK. It starts to load, then just stops. Any ideas?
Re: Streaming Audio
If it is this
http://regent.player.abacast.com/player/?pid=wlzw
it's Windows only and Silverlight as you say
It won't help immediately but moonlight (the Linux version of silverlight) is released. We'll hopefully have applications using it soon and then you should be able to listen again

Re: Streaming Audio
Thanx I saw something in the repos for Moonlight, so I installed it. I also installed the plugin from http://www.go-mono.com/moonlight/ Now, when I attempt to listen to my favorite radio station, the page shows that I have the plugin installed, but Firefox just says "transferring data". Since it's not fully supported yet, I guess that's why it's still not working?

Re: Streaming Audio
I installed the totem plugin, & it works!! Thankyou for your help!!
Tofucifer wrote:Okay I'll muddy the waters some more. I've been listening to the station for 10 minutes now on the totem plugin. I have all the gstreamer plugins (minus docs and fluendo) and the libxine1-all + libxine1-misc plugins installed. All I had to do was click on the link when the player popped up that said "Not Hearing Audio?Click Here" and bingo. I was up and listening.
