How to convert LMDE Cinnamon to a pure Debian Testing?

Post by joemartin »

I have been with LMDE for years and love it. Have the urge to go with a pure testing. Can someone point me to a current tutorial on best way to do this? Thanks.

basicly you need to put debian testing repo and modify /etc/apt/preferences then upgrade your system. however, at this time you'll need to very carefull to pick which package is upgraded and which one is not , since current lmde have some breakage with testing. i'd like to suggest to wait until new iso is ready. in that way you don't have to upgrade many package.

Check this thread.

BTW, it's made "sticky" so the people would find it easily in the LMDE subforum; it's strange you've missed it.

Oh, and one more thing: your Cinnamon will be removed if you jump to Testing. That is, if you have Cinnamon 1.8.
