How to remove codecs?

Post by Thomas »

I have my own distro, due to legal stuff I need to remove the media codecs(its based on Mint).
What should I remove?
I know about the light version, this is KDE though.

I hate to sound like an a#@hole, but if you are attempting to make your own distro, you should know your way around a little better. With that off my chest, codecs are in /usr/lib/codecs. What you need to remove depends on your geographic location, and the laws therein.

67GTA, I saw in another post that Thomas is only 13 years old, so we should give the young fellow a little slack. I think it's great that he's making his own distribution, even if he's got a lot to learn yet. Kids like him are the future of Linux. Let's encourage him, and hope he learns much as he breaks things over the coming years.

Thomas,
Now that you have an idea what and how to remove, remember to make it easy for your users to add those multimedia codecs back in. I do wish you good luck and hope you wear out a few keyboards! Most of all, have fun!

I feel bad now. Thomas, I apologize for being so harsh.

Looks nice - and I checked the link too - did not crash this time.
However the crash was related to the FF gui - strange artefacts.... and png....
