Elyssa - Package Managager... solved

Post by tenfoot »

I have just installed Elyssa on my Thinkpad T60 and have run into a problem, inasmuch as I cannot access the Package Manager. Every time I attempt to do so I get an error message: "Could not grab your mouse. A malicious client may be eavesdropping on your session or you may have justr clicked a menu or some application just decided to get focus. Try again."

No other menus are affected - although the Quit menu is very slow in appearing.

I have rebooted the machine and made clicking the Package Manage the first thing I've done after boot has completed. The result is still the same.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, please? More importantly, does anyone know what could be causing it?

In the meantime, I'll delay installing Elyssa on my main machine.

I read someone making a joke about that error message so (unless that was you) at least you're not alone with the error message
I don't think it has anything to do with Synaptic though
Try to right click the menu button > Reload plugins
If that does not help Remove from panel and add it back in again
This is what you always should do if the menu behaves badly and solves most menu problems

Not expert enough to even attempt a joke of that nature :)

Tried that and it made no difference

And this is where I made one of my traditional "blues", as I did not read your instructions correctly and removed the whole of the menu and have no idea how to reinstate it.

Sometimes I think I should go back to a slate board and chalk :!:
