I currently use LMDE 201403 as the OS on my personal laptop. I've been trying to install LMDE within Virtualbox on my work Windows 7 64 bit laptop. However, after installation it will not boot; all that is present in the machine window is a cursor (not flashing). I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Has anybody else has this problem?
For further info; 32 and 64 bit LMDE won't boot (it's a 64 bit system). However I can get Maya LTS to work fine. LMDE has been tried with automatic partitions and a seperate /boot; no joy.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

I figured it out;
For some reason I was trying to install grub on sda1 rather than just sda (which is why my laptop install worked but not my virtualbox install)
So if anyone get the flashing cursor on boot after fresh install make sure you tell the installer to install grub on sdX and not sdX#.
