I have a quite simple question. How can I get rid of that lock down in the panel? I'd prefer to check for updates manually and also my girlfriend (who' s not good with computers at all and keeps bugging me about installing windows) accidently clicks that lock when she wants to maximize pidgin again and then calls me on my phone what to do because that updates window wont go away.
I have given up on explaining things to her, so I'd rather just make any sources of error (caused by her) disappear.
I myself, am also pretty new to Linux, but so far it does everything for my I want and faster than windows. Except gaming
If you could get DirectX9 and Half Life 2 running on Mint I'll ban windows for good, but thats another story 
So how do I make the lock disappear. Thanks for your help.
