Intel HD Grafics 4400
8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth 4.0

Gewnerally all Thinkpads perform well with linux. I have the thinkpad X230 and I have tried LMDE with Cinnamon, Ubuntu with Unity, Xubuntu and OpenSuse on this machine and all worked out of the box. I presume this will also be the case on the X240.

For me it was especially interesting that you used LMDE Cinnamon on an x230. I am writing the message on an x230 but still with MS XP.
I making tests with an ancient x40 and LMDE MATE (a hint from the LM forum) runs nicely. I only had a bit of problem with the track pointer (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 1&t=167893) but could solve it. For the newer PCs I consider to use LMDE Cinnamon. With your information I do not expect problems on the trackpointer-trackpad unit of my x230 and x240.
You do not have accidentally experience with switching between English/German and Japanese using Linux? This is currently my big problem: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 9&t=167661
