Upgrading My CPU

Post by red-e-made »

Hey everyone

I'm running Mint 5 on an HP dv6775 that's currently using an Intel Centrino Duo CPU. I've been thinking about upgrading to a more current duo-core CPU from Intel. My questions are:

1. What would be the advantages/disadvantages of upgrading?

2. What Intel duo-core CPUs would any of you recommend?

Thanks very much.

If it indeed has 3GB RAM as I've seen there is not much need to upgrade that cpu
I think it will cost far more than the added power is worth
Remember, the cpu is the last thing you change upgrading a "normal" computer
More RAM, faster (possibly larger) hard disk, better graphics is far more important and that's not an option in a laptop ....

I do indeed have 3GBs of RAM. As well as a 250GB hard disk with a 160GB external drive, and an nVidia GeForce 8400M GS graphics card. So I guess I'm doing well enough. Thanks, Husse!
