My Audio Out Jacks

I have two, one in t he rear of my desktop, that I have always used for my headset, SKYPING, etc. and one on the front, I use for my Overhead speaker, for streaming, etc. I find with this, as well as previous distros, that the FRONT jack does not work, with the LIVE DISC or now that it is installed (mint 17). I never had this issue with Windows XP, both worked fine. Could it be that my 10 year old PC's sound card is not fully compatible with Linux, ANY distro I have tried. Or must I set or install something?? If so, what and from where???

And please do not say I need commands in the TERMINAL>>LOL>>I will avoid that like the plague

OH COME ON, someone must know why??? Don't be turned off by my post because I am avoiding the TERMINAL like the plague>>LOL.

I avoided the Command Line in Windows also. No use for it. Way too many OTHER ways to get things done

Well, yeah, the Windows CMD, MS-DOS, whatever they call it, is pretty awful.

OK, so maybe you just have to research audio setups and choose your options for pulseaudio or add jack application for audio routing options

Some people suggest junking pulseaudio for alsa, but that shouldn't be necessary if you can fix the pulseaudio setups..

Sorry for not responding. I just found this, because I had saved my original post, in my SAVED folder. Apparently I had never checked to be sent an email for any replies. Anyway, I went into my Software Manager, searching for various things related to ALSA (I am not really a TERMINAL guy>>LOL.

Anyway, one of the things that I ended up with is this, "HDA Jack Retask," (Jack retask for Intel Sound Card), and I messed around with some of the settings related to FRONT & Back LINE out or HEADPHONE Jacks. I thought that I had screwed even my BACK jack up, cause I lost the sound I was listening to, streaming one of my favorite daily programs. But then I went to, "Applications>>>Sound">>>and clicked on TEST for the LEFT then RIGHT, and got my sound, in both the front (Had a headset on) and the rear (My overhead speakers). So then I re-checked my streaming program and it had stopped, wasn't me messing up>>LOL. So I restarted it, and NOW I have sound both front and rear. Thank you for heading me in the right direction, although I avoid the TERMINAL like the plague. For some reason, you Linux experienced folk love using that, ME NOT .

Found what I needed using the SOFTWARE MANAGER, as usual .
