cheese module(s) and the version

Post by donec »

Is there any way to find out what module(s) and the version cheese uses in Elyssa Mint 5 final?

?
Please clarify
I don't think it's installed by default
To find the version just start synaptic and search for cheese and you get the version
To find the packages - well that is a tad more difficult - you could run locate -i cheese in a terminal to find all. Perhaps you should run sudo updatedb first

The reason I ask is because someone has said they would try and compile a version for Mepis if they had this info.

What does that do?

sudo updatedb updates the database locate does it search in - it does not search directly in the file system - but even with the tiem for updatedb it is really fast and also accurate

Thanks Husse. On another note concerning Cheese, when I did the system updates and they finished Cheese automatically opened. Any idea why this happened?

Sorry - I'm not familiar with cheese - apart from what I put on my sandwich now and then :)
Only once?
Perhaps something triggered a "open call" to cheese - I would not worry if only once
