LM17 Qiana - Blueman stil not connecting my devices<SOLVED>

Four weeks ago I submitted a couple of posts re lack of success in connecting to headphones/speakers using Bluetooth in LM17, all of which worked OK in LM16. It seemed quite a few others were suffering similar problems.

Yesterday I thought I should try again and have downloaded LM17 again, added Blueman again and still no connection. All four sets of devices I tested (speakers, soundbars and headsets) appear to pair but then disconnect immediately in Blueman setup with 'stream failures'. So I tested them all from another laptop with Windows 8.1 - perfect!

Yes I could stay with LM16, yes i could try LM13 as was suggested ... but I find it both frustrating and disappointing that something that worked very well previously now does not work at all. Maybe I am missing the point here but is anything going to change in LM17 or the recommended Blueman?

EDIT - Thanks to jeremyB for the command 'pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover' ... after which devices pair and connect and stay connected!

I'm having the same problem connecting a pair of Kitsound Manhattan headphones. They are registering in Blueman, but failing to connect properly either as just headphones or using the inbuilt microphone.

Is there an explanation anywhere as why it was necessary to have to install Blueman as they worked in LM16 on the standard bluetooth set-up?

Hi jungle_boy ... I saw nothing about this 'obexft' in the LM17instructiions - again as an admitted Linux neophyte, what is it and what can it do to connect Blueman to my headphones?

Can anyone help? I issued the above command as my Bluetooth is still not working after a kernel update, but I'm getting this:

Thanks, that worked. It was funny that it picked up my headphones (KS Manhattan) as being Mono. I have to got > Sound Preferences > Hardware tab, click on the headphone section & change the setting to Hi Fidelity Playback (A2DP).

It wanted to remove just too much stuff so I didn't feel this was safe for me to do. Plus I'm only trying to connect my mobile devices to my desktop to transfer files. I'm not trying to connect Bluetooth headphones or anything like that, so I'm not too sure it's the pulseaudio module that's proving my downfall here.

Anyone have any ideas? I even installed the newer kernels hoping for a fix but to no avail. Thanks all.

Starting to wonder whether it's the phone now. It's a Samsung Galaxy S2 running Jellybean 4.1.2 and as up to date as it can be. Can't seem to share files with it over Bluetooth, but when I connected my 2012 Nexus 7 it shared fine after an initial timeout error. Hmmm...

I appreciate this is pretty boring for you all, but I did a factory reset on my phone this morning, and then updated everything and reloaded all my apps. Now, it seems to be working fine.

Apparently, because of previous problems with Pulseaudio's handling of Bluetooth, Blueman unloads the module "module-bluetooth-discover" after it has been loaded by the Pulseaudio config file default.pa.

There is a modified version of Blueman being tested at the moment, which some think has solved the problem.

This was posted on the 7th of July 2014 so the problem has been known about for some time. Can we have the updated version of Blueman anytime soon? I am getting really fed up with having to issue the "pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover" command every time I want to connect my BT headphones or speaker to my media PC.

This doesn't sound like entirely the same problem. The OP could pair his headphones and other devices, as could I, but could not connect to an A2DP sink. In other words, they would not show up in Sound Preferences to enable music to be sent to them. The transfer of data works fine if connecting a mobile phone, etc. The problem has been identified as being in Blueman and a new version to fix it is in testing at this time. If you look back through the posts in this thread you will see that there is a temporary fix for this but it has to be done everytime you turn on or re-boot your computer.

If you cannot pair a Bluetooth device at all it may be worth searching on that or opening a new thread.

Ok I have followed all the workarounds in this thread and still nothing. I tried a kernel upgrade but sadly my computer's video card is too old and the module returns an error when trying to build it.

The command pactl list | grep -i module-bluetooth-discover returns nothing.

When I run the command pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover it fails.

I can't recall the command i used but I ran a command and module-bluetooth-discover showed up in red.

When I run dmesg | grep -i bluetooth I get the following:
