Hello, all.

Post by jimallyn »

Greetings to all. I have just installed Mint 17 on two of my computers and am enjoying it. I tried Mint a couple of years ago, but the computer I had it on crashed big time, so I haven't used Mint in some time. I am an old Xandros user. (I still run Xandros 4 on one of my computers, and have another computer in the back room with Xandros 1 and win98 in win4Lin.) I hope to get to know the community here, and hope to learn enough about Mint to be able to contribute back to the community.

Hi Jimallyn,

Whilst I have never met you "in person" I remember you well from the Xandros forums, you were quite an active, helpful contributor.

Hope you enjoy your transition to Mint. I transitioned to Ubuntu but got lost in a timewarp at 11.04. Never liked Unity but it became obvious that 11.04 was no longer a viable option if I wanted to remain current with both software and security.

I am running Mint 17 64bit with the MATE desktop. Watching with great interest the dynamics of Mint in general. Seem like a genuine bunch and the forums seem tolerant and generally helpful with minimal conflict, which of course is nice :-)

Hope I come across you helping folks and maybe, just maybe I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help you and others.

VERY warm welcome - Mal

Welcome to the Linux Mint Forums. I also remember you from the Xandros days. I'm pretty busy these days so I'm not here often, but for me Mint "Just Works". I only use Windows for Quicken 2000 and TurboTax during tax time.
