So before I get a bunch of hate mail and death threats, heres the back story on my situation.
I recently accepted a job as a Network Specialist for a company that only uses Windows 7. I was given a company laptop to do "whatever I wanted with", it's what I do all of my work on. So my first thing was to install Linux Mint, and my boss was cool about it but extremely reluctant because of his boss. Apparently everyone would get super jealous if they saw me using anything other than Windows, so "Everyone must have the same stuff". Ummm.... sure? My last resort is to deck a Linux Mint box out to closely resemble Win 7, kind of like how Tails OS has the Windows XP option so people in public places don't get suspicious. Any suggestions on themes/icons/login screens/whatever would be super appreciated.
I really don't want to use Windows
What's the best Windows 7 theme?

90% of people don't know that windows isn't the only OS in the world. Chances are they'll think you're using win7 with a strange theme.
P.S. And what does this mean?

Are they building communism? Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't change anything. If you are allowed to do "whatever you want to", then installing another OS shouldn't be a problem. Tell them you are a professional and know better what is the best tool for the given task.Tate wrote:so "Everyone must have the same stuff".

Set up a dual-boot, and then your answer would be "Oh, it has Windows on it, I am just using a different program because it's faster..."

Re: What's the best Windows 7 theme?
Here's severely reasons that should answer most of those questions: I live in a right-to-work state, any type of Networking/IT/Security jobs are hard to come by, bosses are uneducated on anything other than Window's & Mac, and 'Everything must be the same' to prevent jealousy amongst employees.
I'm running 16 with Cinnamon desktop.
I'll have to check that theme out, maybe later I'll post a pic of the theme I've put together so far.

Search the internet and you can find lots of sites with downloads of Win7 wallpapers and start-button images. From there it's only a matter of a few minutes play to get a desktop that looks as if it's Windows 7.
I'm afraid it will still probably work a lot better and faster than Windows, but you will just have to accept that one of the problems of Linux is that it has this annoying tendency to be so fast.
PS: That was supposed to be irony, just in case you didn't notice!

It's a pity nobody actually answered your question. The closest was go look it up yourself on other websites (or RTFM).

This is blasphemy in some circles! But hey, then everyone would want one! Job security and you'd probably have to hire your own staff.Tate wrote:Apparently everyone would get super jealous if they saw me using anything other than Windows...
Some ideas on how to "disguise" your operating system.
