No wireless

I can't get wireless to work on my computer. I have a cable connection, so the wired connection works fine. However, I travel a lot, most hotels only have wireless. I may have to download programs at home, then wait until hotel or coffee shop to install, if I need an active wireless connection for install to complete. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I printed up my info below if anyone knows a solution.

The open source madwifi drivers aren't working in the 2.6.24 kernel. I just helped someone with the same card: http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... 53&t=14386

I'll try that. Though I have to say this stinks. I guess I will have to update to the next release just to get out of this kernel now, instead of sticking with LTS.

Hi,

I had the daryna mint and tried to upgrade it but something went wrong and the OS didn't let the laptop to work. So I just installed the new elyssa.
everything seems ok (for a complete layman on these subjects) but for the wireless.

The hardware button doesn't show the "on" light and the wireless just doesn't work.

I tried this fix. It does not work, unfortunately. I might have to manually set up something for wireless, as it only gave me options for a wired connection. Do I need to install an eth1 port or something?
