Installing over an older distro
I want to install to an older box (HP Pavilion P4 1.5) with two hdd's. sda is XP with NTFS, hdb has Win98 SE- fat32 and Mandrake 8.? on ext2 and a fat32 partition for sharing data. It currently has lilo on the MBR of sda and will most likely replace it with GRUB. I will be dumping the Win98 and Mandrake and re-formating that space as ext3. Is there any hidden pitfalls when replacing lilo with grub on the MBR of hda?

In a word.... No. Install away. No problem.

Thanks it is nice to be reassured. I have only used lilo in the past.

rph,
Grub is pretty solid. It has some short comings but so does lilo.
After you get used to grub, I think you will like it better than lilo... I did anyway.
