No sound after suspend

Post by Linux n00b »

Since yesterday, I have been testing all the functions of my newly installed Mint5. Sorry for start a new topic, I couldn't find a similar one.

Today, I tested how well (or how bad) my laptop will response to suspend and wake up. I found the usual "lost" hdparm setting problem, easy fix. However, there is one I cannot understand. After my machine woke up from suspend, I lost sound completely. The laptop won't even make a beep. The only way I got sound back is reboot, log off and log back does not work.

Has anyone seen this problem? What is the fix?

Suspend/hibernate is tricky to say the least
Unless sound is important for you I suggest you live happily with a computer that wakes up :)
If you need a solution we need to know your specs (rather the specs of your computer :))
run lspci and post the result

In addition, I found another problem with sound. I installed couple games (OpenArena, Freeciv), Freeciv has no sound (I think the sound pack was downloaded and installed), OpenArena lost sound once. When I lost sound in games, the laptop was not "wake up", sound works fine to play CD.
