and do u need a cd to install it cuz i really dont have a cd burner and i dont want to waste my time to down load it ... it takes like 14 hours to download to the desktop

If you mean dual-boot, with one part of your hard drive running Windows, and one half running Linux... it's very much possible.
If you mean "run Linux" in the same way you would a normal program like MSN or the like, you may be interested in

Preferably, yes. You're most likely to need a CD, the reason being is that you need to restart your computer with the CD in the drive to install - just like you would when you're installing Microsoft Windows.
Your best bet is to download it bit by bit using bittorrent. Check out the

As you don't have a CD burner, you will need to use
this program, which will let you try Linux out before you get the chance to make the CD.
