Evolution crashes everything when I download mail

Mind you, I was using thunderbird and when I copied my mail files (i.e. the "mail" directory) to the new thunderbird directory it made thunderbird crash too, but I was having success with evolution by importing the folders one by one.

But now, unlike thunderbird, the program starts all right, but when I try to get my new email the whole thing crashes and I have to enter my name and password again. When I return to evolution I find that the new messages are there waiting for me, but it will crash again if I try to get any new mail. Since I'm not accessing my possibly evil old folders I figure this isn't the problem, but maybe it is? I have over ten years worth of email from friends that I don't want to abandon!

I think you need to clarify a bit - I'm not following you..

I have used it from day 1 in linux and never had an issue. Sounds pretty weird to me. try to uninstalll and reinstall it again...Maybe that will help.
