Chirping sound when not playing music

Post by Imagus »

Hello,

First of all, I really love Mint! I have been playing around with several Linux distros in the past, but in my opinion nothing beats Mint. A big thanks to the developers for such a wonderful product.

I have a bit of problem though. Well, it's not really a problem, more a bit of an annoyance. Whenever I run Mint, I always get a faint chirping sound in my headphones when I'm not using any sound. Music playback is fine, but as soon as I stop playing music, the chirping sound returns. It's hardly audible on a low volume, but the more I turn up the volume, the louder it gets.

Is there anything I can do about this? I don't have this problem in Windows.

Thanks for any advice.

You could check if the Volume Control has the mico on...It could be that.

Thank you. I have checked the microphone, but it's off.

It's no big issue however, it's probably just my cheapo soundcard.

I've also noticed this, Acer laptop with integrated Intel sound module. As I have Skype permanently running I looked to that software and disabled all alerts bar the essentials. No more chirping sounds.
