GSopcast

Post by Legend_bob »

Not sure if this is the place for this, as I'm new to Mint.

But one thing I really would love to see is a Sopcast client package for Mint. It's a streaming over P2P app that's pretty cool.

I've been unable to compile it... which isn't really surprising.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Husse

Yes, I vote for gsopcast as well. A friend of mine use it a lot on his XP-box and he says that he and some of his friends would move to Mint if there was an easy way to install Sopcast, because they like the idea of many of his replacing Windows with Linux.

This is what I used last season to watch the footy.

Works great using Daryna/Gutsy. If i remember correctly Elyssa/Hardy had problems somehow but if you look on the ubuntu forums there will be a thread for it.

Anyways if you want to try it here you go:-

wget http://freetowatchtv.co.uk/images/ubunt ... 1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i gtk-sopcast_0.2.8-1_i386.deb
wget http://freetowatchtv.co.uk/images/ubuntu/sp-auth.tgz
tar xzf sp-auth.tgz
sudo cp sp-auth/sp-sc-auth /usr/bin/sp-sc
sudo chown root:root /usr/bin/sp-sc
wget http://freetowatchtv.co.uk/images/ubunt ... ast.tar.gz
tar xzf qsopcast.tar.gz
sudo cp qsopcast /usr/bin/
sudo chown root:root /usr/bin/qsopcast
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/qsopcast.desktop

Enter the following into the blank text document, then save and close

[Desktop Entry]
Name=QSopcast
Comment=Sopcast TV Player
Exec=/usr/bin/qsopcast
Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/gsopcast.xpm
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Application;AudioVideo;
