My CD/ DVD player/writer died on Friday.
Bought a new one (generic chinese) Saturday and installed plus added an older (approx 2 yrs) Cd writer with DVD playback only.
Set up with the older unit as master and the new as slave.
On trying to rip a CD the older unit ran at about 2-3 x speed. The new unit running at 6-8 times.
Has the technology changed or could I have a desperate need to clean the older unit?? or something??
Any suggestions ?
thanks for the help.
Regards

Technology is always improving. It also depends on the reading speed of the drives. They are not all created equal. Most newer drives will be faster by default though.
