Wireless LAN card required

Afternoon all,

I am looking for a wireless LAN card for my desktop PC I have a MSI mobo K9AG Neo2 Digital and a spare PCI card slot, and am running LM5 Elyssa, what is the best card for LM use?

I would like it to be the latest / fastest format which I think is 802.11n? (or is 802.11g OK / better?)
and I would like it to cost (ideally) less than £30 / $60 / €40 and be an internal PCI card rather than a USB dongle.

Your advice would help loads, thanks.

I'm using Elyssa, I bought a Edimax EW-7128G PCI LAN wireless card and need assistance in getting it set up (I currently have wired connection but am looking at going wireless as I'm placing the PC in a different room from the phone socket & modem).

I assume it's the part between the asterisks is my new card (& not the built in LAN socket on my mobo)
however my card has two lights on the back and none are on link & tx/rx
I think I've installed ndsiwrapper and then gone to control centre / system / windows wireless adapter and tried to install the *.inf file from the CD ROM however this comes up as an error while installing.

I've gone to serial monkey.com and downloaded the correct file for it rt2500-1.1.0-b4.tar.gz but am at a loss on how to install *.tar.gz files (I'm used to *.deb & got told they're the ones to look out for LM installations)

I've gone to the package manager and installed rt2500-source which I believe is the above file just through the package manager, however when I click on wired network connection, edit wireless networks I cannot add anything.

So this is what I've done so far and am now at a loss.... so any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

P.S. on another note I've also found out that my HD is a PATA connected into a SATA socket via an adapter I bought off eBay, while it works fine, it does hang either by the whole computer freezing or by the whole thing freezing with the caps lock and scroll lock lights flashing. This happens randomly and is a pain in the ass, but is easily resolved when I have some cash by buying a new SATA HD, but just for info if other people have similar issues with LM, it's not the OS, it's your cheap adapter card!
