Hi, i am new to using Linux so please be easy on me.
I installed Linux Mint 15 32 bit. Took me around 3 hours to get wireless going, lots of trial and error.
So I decided to download Google Voice / Talk plugin 32 bit .deb (For Debian/Ubuntu) from here https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/han ... nload.html
I run Package Installer where I get the following. Only one software management tool is allowed to run at the same time. Please close the other application e.g. 'Update Manager', 'aptitude' or 'Synaptic' first.
So after googling for a few hours, trying different things with this being the last one http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1028100&page=2
Going through those areas, I encounte " E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. " at the end of a Terminal query.
I then try running: sudo dpkg --configure -a'
With the end of that Terminal query being Segmentation Fault
I can then no longer connect to the internet, so I just unplug to reboot.
I have tried my best to research these forums and go through google, I just can't find the answers and would really appreciate help.

Re: Package Installer Issue / sudo dpkg / Seg Fault
After the reboot, run that dpkg command again and see if that fixes it. If not, post back and we'll see about looking deeper.

Hi Jakob, I am having exactly the same issue.
Did you get it solved?
Thanks!

Re: Package Installer Issue / sudo dpkg / Seg Fault
I'm in exactly the same boat and it's looking like this means it's now impossible to install any new packages. Unfortunately I'm pretty new to linux (been away for 20 years) so no real idea what tools I can use to investigate further.
Re: Package Installer Issue / sudo dpkg / Seg Fault
After much messing about managed to solve it for my computer with:
(urg - that's probably the process name - memory isn't what it used to be so you may have to seach for the correct spelling.)
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg --purge bcmlw-kernel-source
Re: Package Installer Issue / sudo dpkg / Seg Fault
I have exactly the same grief on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop.
I get the same error messages that end with
depmod....
DKMS: Install completed
Segmentation Fault
and my LAN internet connection disconnects and terminal window goes nowhere but tells me not to close because a process is still running. Then I have to reboot.
I am at wits end.
I hate to give up on this, but I have spent a week on this problem.
