I write a secret message to Bianca in Mandarin Chinese and he translates it to Greek! :? :)
いをこで てみませんか! =Παρακαλώ μπορείτε να μεταφράσετε αυτό για μας;
BTW, that text is Japanese, not Chinese. According to the tools I used "いをこで てみませんか" means "It's coming out densely, don't you see?".

The text in Greek was a question to you if you could please translate it? The other symbols I used are "Traditional Chinese":

我不瞭解這 = I do not understand this (hence my following question in Greek if you could please translate?)

您無法唬弄傻瓜 = You cannot fool a fool :D

Φυσικά όλο αυτό είναι ακριβώς ένα αστείο :D

I myself, have converted two of my family members, and they are using Mint Bianca on personal and business computers. My father owns a scanning and printing/data storage business. The problems (and I don't mean to beat a dead horse here) with XP he had were unbelievable, driver problems, unable to use multiple printers/scanners, constant "spooling" errors, source not present errors. The list goes on.
Mint Installation:
After installing mint, we have not had one single error, and, (I don't mean to keep beating this horse) everything works, all three scanners, all three printers. Oh, and everything is easily twice as fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

clem wrote:
If it's Mint you're installing on their computer you can always rely on the Linux Mint Support Center for the support, and we'll support them so you don't have to worry about this.

Clem

I am unable to really give support to anyone I recommend to, only basics, as to my "green" knowledge of Linux. I have pointed my father to the Mint forum for some questions he has had, and has had them all answered by reading. On the other side, I have not had to offer any support, as to nothing has failed or faulted to offer support too!!!!
I also have my own business, and several pc's here for work and play, they all four have Mint Bianca 2.2 on them. I wanted to add, that I am recommending this OS, and am going to be continuing to do so.
What amazes me about Mint Bianca, first, is the diversity of Bianca, second, the the friendly and helpful people here.
I am not making a business on Linux, I just recommend what I see as the best thats out there for people to use. This is it!!!

Very quiet today in the Mint Cafe.

Scorp, translate this!:

Haldit maðr á keri
drekki þó at hófi mjöð
mæli þarft eða þegi
ókynnis þess
var þik engi maðr
at þú gangir snemma at sofa

Is that Icelandic? Something about rather walking and fighting instead of sleeping ... No idea about the rest.

EDIT:

Google is my friend. This stuff is Old Norse it seems? :D How mean of you. Some of those words and letters are still used in Icelandic but have a totally different meaning, and that's why the translations did not make sense.

But OK ... now that I know that it is Old Norse ... :D

Do not let a man hold on to a goblet,
but let him drink mead in moderation,
let him talk sense or be silent.
No man blames you
of bad manners,
that you go early to sleep.

:D

EDIT 2: Or is this stuff Old English??? Not sure anymore. Old Norse and Old English seem very similar ... 8)

Geez Scorp, you can figure out anything! Yes, it is Old Norse. I've been reading "the Last Kingdom" on my pda, by Bernard Cornwell and looked up some stuff about that period. Boy, those Danes were really ferocious!

npap, Ohhh my head hurts this morning!

Hi Ragar, welcome to the Mint Lounge! Have a Mint on me. I'll bet other distro forums don't have a lounge! npap should be along shortly with some more booze.

Hmmmm,

the first person who wrote my name here, spelled it wrong.

It is Ragnar, NOT Ragar, NOT Rag-the stupid-nar, NOT Rag-the rat-nar, e.t.c.

:D :D :D :D :D

Nice meeting you, and of course: thanks for the drink, mate!

Well, you should read about the Swiss then and how come the Swiss have been guarding the Pope in the past 500 or so years.

http://www.myarmoury.com/feature_armies_swiss.html

"... The Swiss troops of this period were remarkable both because of the terror they inspired in their opponents, and for their own extraordinary qualities.

First of these was sheer courage—no Swiss force of this period ever seems to have been broken or to have run or surrendered; several literally fought to the last man, and the only concession they would make to defeat was a bitter and grudging retreat in good order, defending themselves against all attacks (for example, at Marignano, 1515, where their losses were over 50 percent). Perhaps their habit of hanging the first man to panic had something to do with this!

Secondly, superiority of training: The Swiss relied on a simple traditional system of tactics, practiced until it became second nature to every man, and applied it unhesitatingly under the direction of a sort of committee-leadership of dour and experienced old soldiers—rather like a Roman legion and its centurions.

Thirdly, ferocity: The Swiss spared no-one, refused quarter to their enemies—even prisoners who could afford a ransom were mercilessly slaughtered; they violated terms of surrender given to garrisons and pillaged towns that had capitulated—not a small part of the fear they inspired sprang from this bloody reputation ....."

So that's why all Popes since 500 or so years have their Swiss guards. It doesn't even matter that these guys are mostly seen with swords and pikes instead of modern weapons -- they do have modern weapons too. Even without their modern MP5's: A Swiss charging at you full-speed with his two-hander sword (e.g. when running out of ammo on his MP5 ... ) ... you better place a well-aimed headshot that really pierces his thick metal armour or he's gonna cut you into tiny bloody pieces when he gets to you. Read above: No-one gets spared, no prisoners are taken. Good old tradition amongst Swiss mercenaries.

I imagine this gives every Pope a warm fuzzy feeling in the belly knowing that only God himself can remove him from his office for the Swiss will make sure there is no human "interference"

Welcome Ragnar,
Where might you be coming from me lad? There ain't no Bloody Mint stuff here :) But we can have our pretty bartender mix a Bloody Marry cocktail for you.
I assume you are of age. :) We don't serve kids under 80 here.
Our bartender is Bianca herself. Our new CasaBianca Room, you see, was named after her. :)
No matter what happens, Cassandra will never take her place.

Again, we welcome you and many other new guests whom we have not met yet. :)
Regards, Npap

Hi Scorp123,
A very good story about the Swiss. I'm beginning to wonder if The 300 were not partly Swiss. :)

I thought they were only good in the banking business there. lol:

Yes, it is amazing what the Swiss can do with those little army knives.
I'll bet the corkscrews on those knives came in handy when dealing with France!

I'm aware of the bloody history of the Swiss Confederation. My relatives on my father's side originally were from Switzerland. They came to America because of religious persecution. That was in the 18th century, so I don't remember much about it!

npap, I think Ragnar must bloody well be from the UK, where "bloody" is a well used expression.

What is the name of your firewall Ragnar?
I have Firestarter which is in the Synaptic. I have no problems accessing sites.
Turn the thing off. You are not in any danger here. But to be safe, go to your Firefox Edit>Preferences>Privacy>Show cookies. Delete any cookies that you suspect, like Paypal, Http something or anything you may suspect.

You also have many options there. You can delete all cookies automatically when you end a session.
Some cookies are used to identify you so that they can connect you to their site.

Or try changing your firewall. Firestarter is good enough.
