Truecrypt 6.0a-0_i386.deb

As a Linux noob I spent ages trying to figure out how to extract the .deb package from the tar.gz, in the end it was simple:

./truecrypt-6.0a-setup-ubuntu-x86

Now I have the .deb, I thought I'd upload it to mediafire so that other noobs wouldn't have to be as confused as I was.

Truecrypt is of course free open-source disk encryption software for Windows Vista/XP, Mac OS X, and Linux.

You have to run Truecrypt from the cli or by using the run command: Alt+F2

I'm trying to figure out how to get Truecrypt. Unfortunately, your deb file is of an older version. Is there a simple way to install Truecrypt? I don't see it in Synaptic or in the Mint Software portal or in Mintinstall. I thought I would have 20,000 programs available for automatic installation??? What about getting it from Ubuntu repositories? How do you do that? Does it install automatically from Ubuntu repos?

when i go to the Truecrypt home page, I don't even know which file to download.

Download the ubuntu .deb that you need.
Extract the .tar.gz and double click the file truecrypt-6.1a-setup-ubuntu-x86.(Click Run)
Then click the button that says extract the .deb.
The .deb will be in /tmp
