Which is the Best Format type to use?

Post by mmesantos1 »

I have a question,
Which is the Best Format type to use when you are installing Linux Mint, they give several option during a manual install. The default is Ext3. Is this the best to use or is there another choice that would give better performance?

I've always used Ext3, mainly out of habit. It's very solid and reliable. I've tried other formats like xfs in the past that are technically faster but haven't noticed a significant difference that is worth changing from something that I know to work well.

I second omns with the Ext3 choice. It will probably be your best choice for performance and reliability.
