can't mount pen drive

It should be trying to mount it as /media/disk or /media/diskX.
Did you add it to fstab? (you shouldn't have)
I just plugged in my Kingston thumb drive and it's working fine.
I even rebooted with it plugged in.
It looks like it's trying to mount to a place something else normally mounts.
I noticed mine took the /dev/ of my usb hard drive when of booted with it in.

If you really need the data you could right click and click Open Folder as root.
Then plug in the drive, but if you write anything to it, it will be root and not user permissions.
