USB power management
Is there any way to fix the speed of my USB working? When this machine was running windows, I could charge up my phone via USB in an hour or so. On Linux Mint XFCE, it takes about 8. Is there any way to sort this out? I'm still a noob, so please explain in simple terms!

I have tried to google for your problem but that's impossible - I get all sorts of false hits
While there is no doubt that the operative can control the USB I must admit I've not heard of this before (I think )
I'll mark this and come back to you - some studies on the kernel and USB may be needed

I tried my phone on my wife's laptop with the live cd.
For some reason it was loading the usb ports as 1.1 instead of 2.0.
It would also say "Insufficient power to operate USB device."
So I loaded up Linux Mint 5 Main(Gnome) and it loaded the ports as 1.1 instead of 2.0.
Not sure but I thought the ports where 2.0.(will look into this later)
Gnome at 1st didn't say "Insufficient power to operate USB device.", but after a few times of reconnecting, it would say it.
Seems like both have this problem just Gnome doesn't have it as often.
