no speaker sound hp envy 15-ew0013dx

Have sound on HDMI output and earbuds nut nothing from onboard speakers. How do I make the onboard speakers work?

Any progress with the issue ? I dont know whether that notebook is worth to buying. If problem cannot be resolved easy then probably I going to buy Lenovo yoga 7.

No solution yet. Gave up trying because wasted too much time on this issue. Was looking for help on another subject and ran across this post

and since it looked quick and easy, tried it but that didn't work either

There has been linux-firmware added for Cirrus amplifiers for HP consumer laptops. Did you try updating it as was suggested in the link I provided?

Make sure you undo that change as it will mess up your system.

It also killed output to hdmi. Earbuds still worked though. Restored my grub file to old version and hdmi output is back.

I got as far as as downloading the bios update files but did not try installing yet. It looked like another long involved process. I had a lot of things going on then and did not wish to risk borking my system and then spending time to unbork it. Presently preparing for a long journey and don't have the time to deal with this issue as unfortunately there are other issues to resolve. Will try when I return. Thanks for all your help!
