Re: nvidia driver

Also, I earlier used an inxi -SGx BEFORE installing BumbleBee and I remember the results for X.Org said something to the effect of "(failed) Nouveux driver at resolution 1920x1080" and for the GXL Renderer, it had the "Mesa DRI Intel Ivybridge" message. I never tried it at a lower resolution but tha...

Re: nvidia driver

My graphics card still doesn't work on linux. I guess this card may never work until the Nouveux drivers are updated to support it. I installed Mint Olivia a week ago and once again, it defaulted to the IvyBridge graphics driver. I had 3.8.0.19 version of the kernel and installed BumbleBee per instr...

Mint Olivia x64 (Cinnamon) boot issue

During installation, I chose "Other Install" and opted to install Mint 15 over my old Mint 14 partition. I had a dual boot installation with Windows 7. After installation and the prom pt to removed the installation DVD, the laptop rebooted and just hung. After waiting 1/2 hour, Ctrl-Alt-Del and I go...

Re: nvidia driver

the installation in ubuntu and in mint is similar; what works in a ubuntu release works in the correspondent mint release: 12.04 = mint13; 12.10 = mint14; can you please open the terminal and give us the output of inxi -SGx System: Host: jdunn-Notebook-PC Kernel: 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 (64 bit, gc...

Re: nvidia driver

This is a deal-breaker. If I can't get the Nvidia driver working, I'll have to switch back to using Ubuntu

Re: nvidia driver

zerozero,
That didn't work either. Maybe preferences>details are not reporting accurately which driver is being used? I rebooted.
It still says I'm using Intel IvyBridge Mobile, Standard

Re: nvidia driver

nomko, Thank you for the detailed instructions. However, it did nothing to switch my graphics driver. :( Is there another step you omitted? According to preferences>details, I'm still using Intel IvyBridge Mobile for my graphics. According to lshw -c video, I have: *-display description: VGA compati...

nvidia driver

I'm new to Mint. Previously, I've used Ubuntu before switching to Mint 14 Maya Cinnamon on my laptop. The installer always detected and installed the Nvidia drivers for me Geforce GT 650M in Ubuntu. For some reason, Mint loaded Intel graphics drivers for my laptop. "Software Sources>Additional Drive...

dual boot question

My laptop currently is dual boot with separate Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 partitions. I'm very familiar with Ubuntu but I'm new to Mint. I plan to resize my Windows 7 partition and replace the Ubuntu 12.04 partition with a Mint 14 installation. Does the Mint 14 installer make this fairly easy? (easy...
