Re: Is Linux Mint Spyware/Prism proof?

No html5 is not spyware proof or privacy proof. I have a video on the internet that teaches you how to exploit html5. You can take over the user's pc and also fill up their hard drive within a few minutes. The user won't even know what happened until they try rebooting or finding something on their ...

Mint auto update

My mom is now using mint. She is up there in age, and doesn't get all that technical with computers all that much other than browsing, and emails she does fine. But to make life easier for her, I wanted to set it up so her mint auto updates instead of every time I visit she has 126 updates. I found ...

Block ip address

Still learning the mint firewall in 13. What I am trying to do is block a cache ip address from youtube. I read that, videos will stop studdering. Even though I have 15mb internet, I can only view 240p.. I did the traffic shaping tests and everything. Nothing was found. Here is a thing I found about...

Re: Watch out for newest Intel Atom processors

Is this still a issue in mint 13 mate 64? Daughter has a little netbook with the atom n2600. I'm having issues with video working correctly. Sometimes she plugs in a hp vs17e monitor for a bigger screen. I can not get mint to recognize it. Shows up with 0 hz.. Also doesn't allow you to switch or tur...

Re: Mint 13 Boot screen garbled

Maybe try a newer nvidia driver.

Mint should make 14 or 15 a LTS. I find mint 13 so much more buggy than the newer mint versions. If it's buggy, it should be short term.

Re: Microsoft is Doomed

You need to know what's underneath and how it functions and can be manipulated. No. Most people buy computers because they have certain tasks they need the computer to perform. That's like saying you need to understand how the combustion engine works in order to drive a car. If Suzy Housewife or Jo...

Re: Microsoft is Doomed

While desktop sales and laptop sales are down. Things like the tablet are up. Game consoles like the Playstation or xbox are up. It is true that, many older computers out there are just as good as the new one's sold today. Some of the older motherboard's used better quality parts. Companies today ar...

Re: How to Mint 14 (15?) on a pentium M no pae

Mint 15 mate... D600 No pae cpu. Only hard thing was after install and reboot. I got a log-in screen and found out you can't log in using gnome. You need to choose mate/cinnamon. Otherwise, pretty easy upgrade. http://linuxg.net/how-to-update-upgrade-from-linux-mint-14-nadia-to-linux-mint-15-olivia/...

Re: How to Mint 14 (15?) on a pentium M no pae

It's good you are working on something with fake-pae. There is some nice older labtops still out there, well capable of doing typical things as any other computer. I used mine the other day to do some spreadsheets and photo editing. But for a future standpoint. It would be nice if, either the kernel...

Currently win7, mint 14 mate, and, BeOS which I maintain myself. Rewrote it from the ground up, it's very light weight and fast. Designed to run the from a video card gpu instead of a motherboard cpu.

LOL For a while I did have a gmail account.. Kept getting advertisements for women's perfume and stuff. I would be more inclined to pay them for zero advertisements. Anyways, got rid of gmail account probably 3 years ago. Google needs to fix some other lose ends. Like chromebooks. Chrome os can't ev...

Re: Linux Mint DE Mate vs Cinnamon for gaming on Steam

Because most mints are ubuntu based. Steam should work the same regardless UI version. I know like my old laptop, there is no video drivers to support cinnamon. So steam and cinnamon it's self isn't gonna work to begin with.

I should reword that. They use some linux, and 2 unix servers. The voice servers and remote text (cellphone, armory) is unix. While game play server is linux. Most of the game it's self if edited on linux. From what I hear, activison is also working on some native linux games. One of the games menti...

Re: World of Warcraft - Updating

Blizzard is now secretly working on a world of warcraft linux client. Because of steam and a few other's took this role. Activison felt, they would lose footing in the gaming market. Blizzard has used linux in the past for testing, but never thought of it being popular enough to really put out there...
