Re: Can't trust the cloud.
I trust the cloud ...cautiously. I have all my work/personal files on Dropbox and PCloud (more or less 8 GB of stuff, mostly LibreOffice and PDF files), but I have (obviously) a local stored copy of all on hard disk/SSD on several computers, all connected to my cloud services.

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf (solved)
Hi xfrank, You are welcome from all of us that replied... "XnViewMP" (& "XnConvert") is a lot like irfanview and can view and or convert most images from one format to another without using the insecure Linux Wine system, see below. What scanner make and model are you using?...

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf
phd21 and BenTrabetere: I become to think that the problem is either the new restrictive policy of imagemagick or a new format of tif generated by Scantailor, still incompatible with imagemagick. Maybe both explanations are true As I wrote previously, I can convert the files in Windows without probl...

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf
Hi xfrank, It may be that scantailor saved the images in an unusual format or they could have corruption. Can you open the Tif images in Gimp, LibreOffice Draw, XnViewMP or XnConvert, etc... and other applications? You should be able to open these images, assuming they are not corrupted, in various...

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf
I would suggest installing gimp and (apt install gimp), I am not 100% sure of the quality of the specific export but I have used GIMP many times to export jpg, png, Tiff. Just open photo with gimp, click file and from list select export as. As far as I know gimp is best of image editing in Linux Mi...

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf
I love questions like this. Assuming there is nothing wrong with your tif files try to add all of the tif files into one ie append and then convert to pdf. Out of interest I tried this with 3 tif files I created and it works, I also couldn't using tiff2pdf add multiple images as it says adding mult...

impossible to print tif images to pdf
Hi! I have a bunch of tif images generated by scantailor, and I want to convert them to one pdf. I tried with imagemagick, it's impossible, there are many errors like "memory allocation failed. Gscan2pdf won't either convert the files (get stuck on opening them), and so Masterpdf Editor. I trie...

Re: Mint Mate vs XFCE on HP Compaq 6000 Pro Microtower
I normally dual boot windows 10 and linux mint in a Thinkpad laptop, no problems at all. I also have an HP SFF (core i5, 8GB RAM9), it runs Mint Mate flawlessly, but surely Cinnamon would run either very well.

Re: Removing tons of fonts !
Me too, I have to spend half an hour for each new installation to remove all the unnecessary fonts. I wonder why there are so many regional fonts (malayam, bengali, thai, etc.) installed by default. Is linux mint so popular in South Asia? Just curious...

Re: Questions for Mint users who have investigated Manjaro
I have just installed Manjaro in a new laptop. I had to do because no Debian/Ubuntu derivatives I've tried was capable of recognizing the touchpad. Only Manjaro. This is a nice distro (Xfce) and clearly improved from the early days, now is reasonably stable. And easy to manage as ever.

Re: Questions for Mint users who have investigated Manjaro
I'v tried Manjaro years ago, as pointed before, it was pretty (Xfce) and easy to manage but unstable. My installation at some point crashed, and I realized that Manjaro isn't a distro suitable for everyday productive work. Stability is first, I haven't time to fix things when I need to do the job.

Re: How to upgrade to Linux Mint 19
Upgraded 18.3 to 19 today, no issues, all went fine. The only "issue" maybe is the slow boot, much slower than before. Beautiful release, thanks Clem! If you let update manager apply the 4.15.0-24 kernel after install, try one of the earlier ones listed in update manager to avoid the slow...
