Re: Mint 13, 64 bit, KDE USB speed problem

I saw those. Thanks.

I was wondering if there was a way to permanently set it for async for every device attached via usb.

Note: I had to use windows to R/R some flash drives for exFat with 128K block size fur dual use.

Now I should be able to get a 'little' more write speed....

Re: What features can we expect in Mint 15?

The mint devs have a lot of work to do and they do it all in their own time. If saving you the bother of performing a copy/paste out of the notes you've kept is worth so much to you then I'm sure the mint devs would drop everything and implement your needs if you were to offer them an obscene amoun...

Re: What features can we expect in Mint 15?

zacharysonicfast, that is perhaps something to post as an idea on the Community website. Or here on the Suggestions & New Ideas forum. This late in the release cycle for Linux Mint 15 I don't think you can expect such a major change to be implemented. It sounds like quite an overhaul of the ins...

Re: What features can we expect in Mint 15?

Since the future of hard drives is here, why not set the parameters for SSD's? Those parmeters should work for normal hard drives as well. But the converse doesn't. About my notes - I have to look everything up on the internet each time. I am unable to carry around a new york phonebook sized notepad...

Re: What features can we expect in Mint 15?

I wonder WHEN they will have it optimized for SSD drives.

Such as having discard preinstalled, ramdrives with temp files pointed to them, etc. Scheduler set to deadline.

data=writeback, bobh, etc.

It ia a pain to have to look up the settings each time and manually put them in.

Re: Partitioning scheme for a 1 Tb disc

Here is what I did. Only have a 64GB ssd drive. inetl i5 3rd gen (3210), and typically only use laptop for internet surfing, email, and one or 2 flash games. Rarely do I play a movie. 56GB for everything NO SWAP 8gb ntfs fo small shared storage as a precaution. Not dual booting windoze but might nee...

Laptop ignition key

I want to make a laptop ignition key whereby the laptop is 100% inaccessible without the usb drive and a password. Inaccessible means that the hard drive is encrypted totally and if necessary, the usb drive (ignition key) is too. I do not want to use lastpass. Is there a way to install mint (13, 64b...

I was wondering which SSD HD would be the best one for my needs. Re: Security warning/notice

Thank you for fixing the thread. Security is a major concern for everyone. If it wasn't then there wouldn't be firewalls, cameras, etc being used today. My main reason for starting this thread is to inform others that might not be aware of a security oversight, such as hidden cameras watching everyt...

Here is another interesting item.
There was a TV show on recently called 'person of interest'.

Perhaps those who are unsure of the security issues could check the show to see more?

nomko, my view on this thread is that if anyone doesn't like it they don't have to read it. Please allow others to express their views and issues and they will allow you to do the same. Everything in this thread applies to everyone, sooner or later. I posted a scant few items for people to take noti...

Re: Security warning/notice

To anyone taking the op lightly or claiming it is just paranoia, I can say as a victim of identity theft that it is something to fear. It was like a nightmare everyday that you don't wake up from for several years. There are many ways for the bad guys to get your information - for one there are &qu...

There is good and bad for me and public wifi. I do not do anything financial online so public wifi is safe in that respect. However, I do worry about passwords and access to other sites. Re: Security warning/notice

Thanks for your support seallion. It appears that some people don't care. But others that do not want to lose everything, including their freedom, do care very much.
