Re: How-to: Network Printer Sharing

I've just bought a refurbished tower PC to replace my 2011 model , and to get my Brother DCP-197 printer/scanner working again I downloaded the Brother Linux driver set up (driver dropped By M$ since Vista !) and after finding your internet setup (wonderfully first choice as for my Linux Mint 21 Van...

Re: local network not working

I've two Linux Mint machines one 19 and the other 20 , simply following altair's A,B,C,D at the start of this topic worked perfectly for me , as I have fixed router IP addresses , the 'smb://192.168.1.135/test' command in the file location field works OK too . Finally got rid of Windows : WORKGROUP !

LM 20 and BACKUP of RPI which is running RPI LITE

You’ll appreciate that having started programming in the sixties I tend to go about things in an ‘agricultural’ and to me familiar fashion . The soundest backup in my view has always been a ful...

Re: Dual Boot 17.1 and 18.3 corruptions on 18.3

Dear Forum , Thank you for your advice deepakdeshp , which I will bear in mind , however my installation of the latest recommended release seems stable , and to be working fine with all of my peripheral devices through the HDMI audio port . My OpenGL Renderer is : $ DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo | grep "...

Re: Dual Boot 17.1 and 18.3 corruptions on 18.3

Dear Forum , Thank you for your reply deepakdeshp , however I still have problems after successfully loading Linux Mint 18.3 MATE . My OpenGL Renderer is : $ DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo | grep "OpenGL renderer" OpenGL renderer string: AMD ARUBA (DRM 2.50.0 / 4.13.0-39-generic, LLVM 5.0.0) . In my ...

Re: Dual Boot 17.1 and 18.3 corruptions on 18.3

Disk checked out OK Num Test_Description Status Remaining LifeTime(hours) LBA_of_first_error # 1 Short offline Completed without error 00% 32370 Loaded up 18.3 in Recovery Mode and it's lost sound . Maybe the problem stems from the lack of an appropriate graphics driver for my AMD system which used ...

Dual Boot 17.1 and 18.3 corruptions on 18.3

Dear Forum , Hi , I am using Linux Mint 17 happily since 14/10/13 , but a recent generic release upgrade caused me to lose my TB6280 PCI-E tv tuner card . Using the open source loader I was unable to get the git update to work with incompatible Linux Headers , and so I reverted my system to Linux Mi...

Re: Samba: On Demand CIFS Mounting of Shares

Dear Altair , Hi , using your helpful guide I managed to set up access to my Plusnet Hub 1 router USB (I believe equivalent to the BT HH5a) , for use with the Gentoo systemrescueCD 'live' disk for backup . Unfortunately I found that the router USB 2.0 was far too slow to make such a backup method pr...

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to

After quite a bit of messing around with loading Linux Mint 16 Mate onto my new AMD quad core PC I have managed to make it operational with the v140210 TBS6280 driver . Live TV is most easily accessed by a 'vlc channels.conf' command on the terminal command line and the picture is good , and sound t...

Hello

Hi , I'm British senior citizen using Ubuntu since 2007 and most recently on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS . The Linux Mint Maya installation DVD worked a treat without a single hiccup and the Gnome desktop is such a relief after Ubuntu's recent tablet like OS developments . The one oddity was a restricted range...
