Re: Want Mint 19 but still want KDE? Have 18.3 KDE installed? Read on!
So, what does pushing 18.3 up to 19 (KDE) effect?

Re: KDE on future versions of Mint (+20)
So I, for one, having had some six or seven years of experience with Linux, did indeed install KDE over Cinnamon, back in let's say 2012 or so. It worked. It was borked, but it worked: KDE is resource-intensive, and overlaying it on another DE results in two DEs running at the same time, so it bogs ...

Launcher icon not there when importing a .desktop file from 18.2 to 18.3
Can the subject line be any more specific? So I installed Mint KDE 18.3 alongside my existing 18.2. I imported my ~/username/.local/applications folder which contains a number of custom launchers I have been using for like ever, along with the ~/username/.icons folder which contains the .png icon fi...

Well, someone has created a new version of Morning Coffee, saving me the pain of having to teach myself how to do it.

Dangit... accidentally updated Firefox and now nothing works right.
AND... Waterfox can't use my Morning Coffee add-on now, either. So, I can't get my daily dose of webcomics.

Re: New EFI boot manager available: rEFInd
Well, I decided to give Kubuntu 17.10 a try, since it's been a few years since I've played with *buntu proper. Now I have a mess: where previously I had four icons on my rEFInd splash: Win 10, Mint KDE 17.3, xfce 18, and Mint KDE 18.1; now I have eight icons. Of these four new boot options, I'm not ...

Coppz, have you tried the steps outlined in this thread? That's how I got mine to work, best as I recall.

I second the rEFInd recommendation. Once you get it set up, you can add any number of new OSes and it will just recognize them.

Re: Mint 17 KDE, Bluetooth, and a Logitech MX Master, not happy
HI Coppz, I have not tried using the bluetooth with a modern version of Gnome. I am still running Mint 18 KDE, though I am considering a fresh install with 18.2 since I have messed things up pretty good trying to get certain other things working right... always an experiment with me, it seems. I wou...

Re: What you'll do when Firefox drops support for XUL addons?

Re: What you'll do when Firefox drops support for XUL addons?
Hrm... I think I will take it for a spin... I have an older OS that I never boot; I could sandbox it there for a little while.
**Edit: It does do profiles, and Morning Coffee works as advertised.

Please say Waterfox supports profiles and add-ons like Morning Coffee... I'll even put a fresh install of Mint 18.2 KDE on my laptop to accommodate it.

Re: What you'll do when Firefox drops support for XUL addons?
Well, hell. I use five different Firefox profiles, each with its own set of add-ons, some of which are rare.
I guess I will hold on as long as I can until I find workarounds or equivalents...

Re: new hardware, do I have to install new linux?
If the front USB ports are part of the case, then you need to make sure that it is plugged into the motherboard. Your motherboard manual should show which pin headers are for USB and make sure that the connector goes on in the correct direction.

Re: new hardware, do I have to install new linux?
If your old machine was BIOS based and your new one is UEFI, then you might want to take advantage of the new capabilities of GPT by installing Mint fresh on that new hard drive. I'd hold off installing the old drive until you get the new computer set up with the new drive and OS, then put the old d...

Re: Instal Mint on non UEFI pc and transfer the SSD to UEFI pc
Wow, I want to say that it can't be done. It's like you are trying to configure a jet engine for a 747 but all you have to work with is a B-17. The B-17 doesn't have the hardware to interface with the engine you are attaching. I started with this search, which led me to this which may get you what y...
