Re: Video artifacts on external monitor
Thank you for the response. I've spent the last 20 minutes googling both specifications for my laptop (Lenovo Yoga 3 14) and how to find the maximum pixel width on one's machine, and come up with nothing. Any ideas? I tried lowering the resolution on both the laptop itself and the external monitor, ...

Video artifacts on external monitor
Hello, I'm running Mint 19.3 Cinnamon on a Lenovo Yoga 3 laptop. I recently bought an Acer monitor in order to have a second screen, which I've connected via an HDMI cable. The monitor and the laptop both have the same resolution, 1920x1080. Mint automatically detected the monitor and extended the d...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots: December 2014
Looking back, I haven't even taken a screenshot since January of last year, when I was running Nadia XFCE. Time for an update, I guess! Here's Qiana XFCE running on my Acer Aspire One 722 notebook. The theming (GTK, XFWM, icons, Plank) are all Numix. System font is Noto Sans. I don't remember what s...

Re: Software update wants to pull in Gnome?
Thanks for the quick response. Really what I'm asking is, is it safe to remove or will I bork stuff if I do? Or should I just let Gnome be installed and sit there? I've got the disk space to spare, I just didn't see the point in having a DE that I don't use hanging around.

Re: Software update wants to pull in Gnome?
When I do that I get the following list: nautilus, nautilus-data, nautilus open-terminal, nautilus-sendto, and libnautilus-extension1a. I wonder why Nautilus is even there in an XFCE environment? Anyway, I tried marking Nautilus for removal in Synaptic, and a pop-up informed me that doing so will ca...

Software update wants to pull in Gnome?
Hi, I have just installed LMDE 201204 XFCE. The icon in the notification area says there are updates, so I open up the update manager and click on install updates. It thinks for a while, and then a box pops up saying "this update will trigger additional changes", and proceeds to tell me th...

Re: Can anybody help with a CSS problem?
Why on earth do you define new HTML elements ("header") instead of just giving them a wrapper like <div class="header">? Er... that's what one of my books says is the shiny new HTML5 way to do it. The problem is you missed the colon (:) on this line after the property name: OMG,...

Can anybody help with a CSS problem?
Hello everyone, I haven't been in the forums for a while, as Real Life™ leaves precious little time for hanging out on the interwebs these days. Still using Mint, though, just upgraded the desktop to Maya with Cinnamon. I'm trying to get back up to speed with HTML and CSS after being out of the web ...

My excuse for being slow to respond is working nights... Same here, I work nights too... I just remembered to check this thread and saw your post is from a week and a half ago! It would be nice to have a keyboard layout for Polytonic Greek I could switch too. I was able to get that ea...

Re: Multiple Keyboard Selection in LXDE
What I would like to do is have a launcher app of sorts on the main panel so I can choose between four different keyboards I use from time to time: Canadian English (Like, I'm Canadian , eh? Beauty!), Spanish (for my studies as a modern second language), Polytonic Greek (for my studies in Classics)...
