Thanks for the suggestion, nemo preview now works fine.
It seems strange that nemo-preview didn't pull the package in as a dependcy.

I have installed Liniux Mint 16rc Cinnamon and I love the look and feel of thesystem, however I am hoping that someone can help with a problem I encountered using nemo-preview. I downloaded the nemo-preview package, restarted the system and opened Nemo selected a text file and pressed the space bar....

I would like to add my thanks to electrickite for a great work around.

As the originator of the launchpad bug report mentioned in these comments, I hope that this bug will get sorted before the next version ol Linux Mint.
