Thank you very much for your reply :) It did not however, fix the problem. Is there any information I can get that may help to troubleshoot this?

Hello, I am having a problem with my mouse pointer on a brand new install of 17.2 MATE. The mouse pointer is showing twice, with a non-functioning pointer below a functioning one. Hi Anne, welcome back :D Linux Mint never shipped with Unity, but with Gnome Shell and extensions.
