Re: Ubuntu one doesn't start

You gave up on "waiting for help" on this forum after waiting less than 24 hours? :D Anyway... you might get better Ubuntu One support over on their forums , the way they recommend, as this is the Linux Mint forum and while I am sure people here can help (given enough time), you'd probably get quick...

Re: Conky troublshooting: "no such configuration: border mar

Sorry this reply is so late.... I've not been on the forums much as of late (not that I am some mega contributor or anything). Anyway, I have to ask the most simple and basic question; had you installed conkyForecast? It's a separate install from another PPA and without it, as you know, this cannot ...

Re: Odd Screenshot Behavior

Same issue, Screenshot app either gives me a glorious picture of my desktop rather than what's on screen or if in a browser takes a picture of some page/document I closed days ago or even deleted. I have seen advice about deleting/purgiing AMD drivers but I ain't going there. The reason I updated t...

I'm guessing that this fork is dead now since jasmineaura hasn't posted since Dec. 11 2012. Yes, only a couple of months ago now... but still no response. apt is unable to get anywhere for me when I follow the instructions. $ W: Failed to fetch http://jas.gemnetworks.com/debian/dists/debian/InReleas...

Re: New to Linux, any cool stuff I should look for?

Coming from Windows, the cd/dvd burning program k3b just blew me away... it is soo nice. I plan to try the KDE desktop one day just because KDE developers made k3b. A complete work of art, that program is, AND it can do ANYTHING I need in the realm of cd/dvd burning, including burn .ISO's, which Wi...

Are you making the changes as root (sudo)?

Describe what it is you do and what errors/messages/behaviors you are seeing.

Re: Mint 14 and Win 8 [HELP!]

Why would you download it from any place other than here on linuxmint.com? In any case, I'd strongly suggest getting the .ISOs from here and make sure you check the MD5 on the file(s) as well. It could very well be as simple as the files being tainted on that site you linked to. If you try it and it...

Re: Java security alert

Or... you could just install the NotScripts extension from the Chrome app store. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/notscripts/odjhifogjcknibkahlpidmdajjpkkcfn That allows you to more easily enable or disable (like NoScript for Firefox) java on the fly on a per site basis. In any case, good l...

Re: Odd Screenshot Behavior

Hi 3.14159: People are definitely out here in Mintland and seeing your post, but are probably at a loss in terms of your specific situation (until there is a reader who is not). Meanwhile, I just took several screenshots with the Take Screenshot app included w/ Maya MATE. Everythings looks perfect,...

Re: Steam on Cinnamon vs other DEs

The official AMD drivers have issues with kernels > 3.5, it seems. I had the same issues with TF2 until I went back to 3.5, installed the 3.5 headers and source and THEN installed the AMD drivers. Not sure if this will help you, but it helped me. TF2 runs really, really well with this setup now. Muc...

Re: Odd Screenshot Behavior

Guess no one has an answer or has experienced this. Holding out hope for a fix... I'd hate to leave Mint, I'm having fun... but stuff isn't working right. Minimal things aren't working, more specifically. No compiz in Cinnamon. No screenshot ability unless I want windows which aren't open or if I on...

Re: Kopete will not connect to Yahoo IM

I dislike Kopete. Last time I used it, its development had been extremely stagnated.

Have you given Pidgin a try? It's stable, well maintained and is generally easy to use. I've been using it since the early versions, when it was still called GAIM. ;-)

Re: rEFInd Issues menu gfx offset & unreadable boot messages

This is completely unrelated to the issue at hand and I am happy the OP managed to get it resolved, but I'd just like to say that this was a great thread to read. It really shows how Linux helps Linux, typically without any gripes and with a lot of " I want this to work for you " attitude. It's why ...

Re: cryptswap1 doesn’t exist, but referenced in fstab [SOLVE

I had this problem as well after my initial install of Mint 14 Xfce. The SWAP wouldn't mount and, as you said, the mount point was written incorrectly so it was never being found. I ended up fixing it the same way you did, but then (since it was a new install) I just nuked the Xfce install and went ...

Re: No more /etc/default/grub in linux Mint14 ?

You're the second person to post about this that I've seen in the last week.

It's very curious to me that the file is missing. I have it in that location and it contains GRUB boot options/flags, so I have no idea why some people would have it and others do not.

Anyone?
