Re: How to add Blender 2.79 to the Cinnamon Menu?

I'm afraid that the point of installing Blender via Steam escapes me. Here'a a guide for the snap version:

Re: Talpa modules in Sophos. Needed?

Personally I think Sophos (or any Linux AV software) is at best a complete waste of time and effort. I know Linux geeks who've been using it simce it came out (>25 yrs) and not ONE uses it. Read this:

Re: Code tags and Word processors?

Just bring up the post an answer page here, type some words, select them and hit the tags above the text box. You will quite clearly see what you have to put before and after text to apply the tag. Simple.

Re: Program has run before fine, now it will not.

Unfortunately Wine has a habit of breaking after updates. There's no entry in the Wine app database for that program. I'd try the Wine forums.

Re: Bug reporting for iCloud mail.

Yes, it's because of Linux, but that's because Apple has pretty much zero Linux support. And there's no bug list for that. See this:

Re: Unable to install KDE DE on Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon

First, why are you usong a ppa for a DE? I rarely use them even for app software, for DE level stufff or below, forget it. ppa sourced stuff is usually more likely to break and not supported by Mint. Install from the repos. Second, the error messages indicate your sources aren't working, which is no...

I'd try gsconnect, which is a port of kdeconnect for non KDE DEs like Mate, see here:

Re: Linux running my tv and my fridge?

Linux has been popular in embedded systems for years, the ECU running your car engine may very well use it. Nothing all that new here really.

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 - Issues

Judging from the number of threads I've seen on this forum (and ubuntuforums before) on Opera I think it seems to be a very troublesome program with poor Linux support. I installed it once (in WIndows 7) and in the process it made itself the default program for opening jpegs, among other things. Eve...

Re: Is Firejail working with Firefox?

I think you've installed a newer version than the repo version from Software Manager or Synaptic. I'd try deleting it (and removing the ppa from your software sources if you used one to install) and reinstall the repo version. There's not much backwards compatibility in Linux and newer versions than...

Re: For those who said xfce is boring ....

Xfrce isn't boring, it's just vanilla. If someone actually cames up with a DE that actually does something substantially different I'd get more interested. Seriously, they all do the same thing really. I don't bother with adding animaations et al but users should realize that if you take a light, fa...

Re: 4k Monitor: does it make sense?

Is the difference on a 27'-31' monitor watching full screen movies (ca. 2m away from the screen) noticeable? No, This is the silliest part of 4K video. You'd need an enormous screen even at 2M. 4K video is HEVC format whereas BluRays are AVC. HEVC is a mch better codec and that's why 4K looks sharp...

Basically Driver Manager is for closed/proprietary drivers/code, which is why you see intel-micorocode or amd-micorocode there even though those are not really drivers.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with video, had you done a high level update before rebooting?
