Re: Systemd-udevd giving me problems with nvidia card

PLease generate a better system overview, copy/paste this to the terminal and copy/paste the text output here:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Did you try reverting the kernel as mentioned in that bugzilla? That's a change you can easily revert back.

Re: Can I change Cinnamon for MATE, or another.

@Unclefred If you want a very simple text editor with the toolbar look at 'leafpad' in the repositories. +1 on leafpad, I've been using it as my simple text editor for so long I can't even remember what the default one is with any Mint DE. It doesn't install any dependencies, it's very, very fast, ...

Ok. Now I placed it on my desktop, renamed it to 'Krita' and launch it from there.
But then it's not possible to get it as an icon in the dock?
It may be but I don't use dockers as such and I doubt it. You can't get appimages to integrate with the desktop environment the way normal ones do.

Re: XMIND 8 - 64bits - Instalation

The tutorials you have seen are most probably for older Xmind versions, which have .deb installation file: http://www.xmind.net/download/previous/ In the link just below the Download button for 8 edition is explained that there are some user interface issues with Ubuntu 16.04 (on which Linux Mint 1...

Re: Installing the Krita application

That explains a lot. Thank you. Yes that's the name of the file I downloaded. What does 'integrate Krita to the desktop' mean? Is it the same than in Mac OS dragging a program to the applications folder? And how do I integrate Krita? Well, Linux is like OS X in a lot of ways because they're both Un...

Don't know about the other things but if you plan on running Linux, as it is right now, DO NOT buy an AMD graphics card. Radeon drivers are not supported from 17 onward.

Blame AMD, its up to them.
Rubbish, they may not be the best supported cards in Linux but they ARE supported.

There definitely seems to be a bug there:

I can't find anything specific and I'm not much good with HP printers but see this maybe:

Try installing pavucontrol from software manager or synaptic package manager and then test the sound with that.

You got a perfectly straghtforward answer, don't do this in /home, ever. Note that Documents and Pic...

Mint 19 is based on Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic) and they seem to be having troubles with the bionic version of nitroshare: https://github.com/nitroshare/nitroshare-desktop/issues/196 https://github.com/nitroshare/nitroshare-desktop/issues/201 There's apparently a bleeding edge version but if they're havin...

Re: How to add LibreOffice to right-click menu?

It does depend on the DE version but generally if you right click a file you want to open with LO you should be able to click on "open with something else" or similar. Hit that and tell it to open with LO, and the next time you right click a file of the same type LO should come up on the list of apps.

Re: Impossible to watch Netflix and Prime Video in Full HD (1080p) or 4K?

It looks like Prime is OK at 1080p with a supported browser. Netflix - appear to be firmly in bed with Microsoft if Edge is the only browser that supports 4K....potentially not a surprise - Netflix CEO is a former Microsoft Board member and there are rumours that Microsoft will one-day buy Netflix....

I think you're confusing Mint 18.3 with Ubuntu 18.04. Mint is Ubuntu based but they're different too, and there's no Mint 18.4 release.

Re: Why are these dmraid related files on my HDD? [Solved]

Even if you completely remove a software package the hidden config files in /home are still there. IMO that's a feature, not a bug. If I decide to reinstall the program later I don't have to reconfig it.
