Re: Cinnamon X11 work but no xorg.conf file

The xorg.conf file is optional: http://askubuntu.com/questions/166968/etc-x11-xorg-conf-file-is-not-available Here is how to find it (if exists): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=829892 Whenever the default discovery performed by x...

Re: desktop changes once in a while (mint 14-64 bit/cinnamon

One of these should be set as default manager for handling the desktop and set as a startup program. If default manager does not start, the icons will be missing until whichever ...

Re: Dual monitor not working. Desperate!

Probably we should clarify whether both display connectors are on the same graphic card?
If the VGA is connected to a motherboard and the other to an expansion board you have in fact two different graphic cards which need two different drivers...

Re: Cinnamon taskbar not showing

The process to downgrade a package is unclear. You may find these resources worthwhile: http://www.howtogeek.com/117929/how-to-downgrade-packages-on-ubuntu/ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PinningHowto#Apt/Dpkg Disclaimer: I never needed to perfom these on Mint, so your mileage may vary. Incident...

Re: nemo carshes every resolution change

Mint 14, 64 bit. Nemo crashes each time I enable the second monitor via randr. So I created a script which is restarting nemo: #!/bin/bash xrandr --output DVI-I-3 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 1440x0 --rotate left sleep 5 nemo -n Looking at the number of unresolved issues in this particular area I becomed ...

A little script is posted in Comment #31 here.
It seems to work close to what "Safely Remove" did.

Re: (Solved) Suspend Doesn't Work

Your swap partition is probably encrypted and the UUID you see is changing with every boot (as in /dev/mapper/cryptswap1).
When you need to know the real, static UUID, here are some clues:

Re: Cinnamon 1.6 multiple monitors don't work if top&bottom

I see the same thing on notebook monitor 1600x900 and external monitor 1920x1200. Graphic h/w is Intel HD4000. When the external monitor is placed above the notebook, Mint/Cinnamon think monitors are overlapping (i.e. somehow ignore Y-offset of the primary monitor being below the external one) when ...
