Changing the Icon for an Entire File Type

This post is for my own future reference... I know that I will need this information again one day and will forget how I did it... but also, I hope it helps someone that might be stuck on this. I have a file type that I have associated with an application to run (that part is easy)... but the icon o...

Re: Qt_5 not defined in file libQt5Core.so.5 with link time reference

Hi tommywright, It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. This FS-UAE Amiga Emulator application may already be in the "S...

Re: Qt_5 not defined in file libQt5Core.so.5 with link time reference

Thanks for the help guys.. yeah, I should have said that it's not an issue with fs-uae. I have that installed just fine on two other computers (one of them running Linux Mint even). Here's the requested info... tom@LapPunk:~$ inxi -Fxzd System: Host: LapPunk Kernel: 4.15.0-48-generic x86_64 bits: 64...

Re: Qt_5 not defined in file libQt5Core.so.5 with link time reference

Sorry, it's all the information that I have. I installed a program called fs-uae-launcher and when I try to run it from a terminal "fs-uae-launcher", it gives me that error.. here, I'll copy the entire output here. fs-uae-launcher 2.8.3 enabling except hook enable tread exception handler uname_resul...

Qt_5 not defined in file libQt5Core.so.5 with link time reference

I hate to ask because it's usually simple but I can't seem to find the solution to this. I see many people with software pointing to the wrong lib but their solutions look so particular to their issue and so far none of their solutions have worked for me. Here's my error when trying to run fs-uae-la...

Re: Update Error Downloading Repository Indexes

Jeez! 3 lines of bash script fixed it. I don't understand how you guys find these solutions... I guess I don't really know what I'm looking for.

[SOLVED] Update Error Downloading Repository Indexes

I read other posts about this but all the answers seemed very specific to the individual posting the issue. My Update icon has a red X and when I refresh Update Manager, I get the results below. I've tried installing y-ppa-manager and running "Try to import all missing GPG keys" but that didn't seem...

Re: Log Shows Errors When Booting... Should I be Concerned?

Excellent! I feel like I should back all this up while it feels so perfect. Other than Timeshift, is there anything else you guys recommend? I will google it also but this forum has had really great advice in the past. :)

Log Shows Errors When Booting... Should I be Concerned?

I feel like I have a really good install of Linux Mint here in that everything works perfectly and it boots nice and fast... but when I look at the logs (Administration - Logs), I see a bunch of errors each boot. Can someone take a look at these and let me know if I can fix any of them... or if thes...

OH... also, if I type "gnome-session-quit", while in my regular Cinnamon desktop here, it will take me back to that Ubuntu login screen.

Re: Accidentally Installed Ubuntu-Desktop

Thanks so much for the help guys! I tried all those commands @DAMIEN1307 to clean things up but I still boot to that Ubuntu login screen. Everything else works perfectly which is why it's killing me! Do you guys think it might be something in the grub? I'm just trying to think of what would trigger ...

Re: Accidentally Installed Ubuntu-Desktop

Thanks for the help! I did an uninstall of ubuntu-desktop which seems to have worked (as in it seems to have removed the files). When running a purge it doesn't find anything. I also tried dpkg-reconfigure mdm which also didn't work. I still log into the ugly orange Ubuntu screen where I can type my...

NES Knockoff Gamepad.. a little help

Hi all, I have a cheap wireless NES gamepad knockoff that works fine over on my C720 running GalliumOS. I took an ASUS Chromebox and installed Linux Mint 18 and that gamepad acts very strange. When I look at it in jstest, is shows me input on axis 3 and 4 ??? The buttons seem to work fine. When I tr...

Re: [mint 17] 3 annoying bugs: wallpaper reset, tray icon, h

I also have the wallpaper bug. It has happened to me twice now, today being the latest. The strange thing about today is that I left my computer on for several hours and came back to it just now to see the default wallpaper. I'm not sure if it reset itself or what but this just happened. The other t...
