Re: Home Is Full

I ran the following commands: inxi -F | more sudo du /home -xh | sort -hr | head - h 15 ncdu sudo apt install ncdu ncdu The first line of ncdu showed 424.3 GiB - on sdb!? There was no drive sdb. No other drive connected either. Disks gui ID'd the drive as sda. Adding the 423.578 to the total below b...

Re: Live CD Logs

Apparently there is not a "Live CD Log" in 18.0 Cinnamon. There is in 19.2 Cinnamon Live at Menu > Administration > Log.

[Solved] Home Is Full

I booted 18.0 Cinnamon 64bit and got notice that there was no room in Home. 750 GB HDD. An hour earlier home had about 250 GB in it. The drive is backed up to a 1 TB HDD which shows that home has about 250 GB in it. I had removed the 750 GB HDD earlier and was running a live session. I shut down the...

Re: Boot iMac to Live DVD

iMAC 2007 white 17" Does not boot to USB stick. No "EFI Boot " option. The stick is good. Boots to Dell laptop. Sorry, I forgot I went through this installing Linux on mid 2007 MacBook. I wound up using a mattgradient version of Mint. It has extra code telling the Mac to boot to the DVD, or USB stic...

Re: Firefox Never Worked (CPU lacking SSE2 support)

Looks like there are no 32bit CPU's that have SSE2. Makes me wonder why FF is included in 19.1 XFCE 32bit.

Firefox Never Worked (CPU lacking SSE2 support)

Mint 19.1 xfce 32bit. ASUS A7N8X-X mobo. Radeon 7000 AGP. 2GB DDR 400 RAM. Athlon XP 2000+ CPU. FF came up with crash report just after I started it in live session. Did it also after I installed to HDD. FF never came up, just the crash report. I then ran all the updates. FF still crashes before it ...

Re: Recommended CPU

What would I look for? I set up the bios as per the ASUS user guide. Everything is set up to default automatic settings. I can run other OS live sessions, install from them and then boot to the new install - no problem.

Re: Recommended CPU

Try the Xfce edition. Just installed 18.1 xfce. using the old box. Install went smoothly. Got "Display Server Down..." when I booted to the HDD. What's going on? The live session has no problem w/the display. Where does the live session get driver to run display? Where is the installed OS supposed ...

Re: Recommended CPU

The install is not happy w/either. I am getting "Display Server Down..." Live session runs either well, but the install process only likes Radeon. If it is driver problem, why does live use the drivers, but the installed OS on my HDD not have them?

Re: Recommended CPU

Installed 18.1 mate 32bit. Finally! Replaced Athlon 3200+ CPU w/ Athlon 2000+. Also DVD and HDD were connected to wrong port. ASUS user guide contradicts it's self. Connected HDD to primary IDE port, and optical drive to secondary port. During attempt to install 13 Mate I got message 'not enough swa...

Can't get anything Mint to install. 13 Mate, 14 Mate 14 XFCE 16 XFCE 17 XFCE 17.1 Mate they get to almost done in some cases and either lockup, or go back unexpectedly to the live desktop. I verified MD5SUM of the older DVD's. Waiting for 18.1 XFCE to download. I am using new LiteOn SATA DVD burner ...

Re: Recommended CPU

Not to be rude, but have heard Atom is not a lot. The Athlon is in the Intel P4 league. Not as fast, but more efficient. Will do much better than most of the P4's, except for maybe the most high end ones. What 18.3 are you running, Cinnamon, mate, etc. You're running 32bit? I was thinking maybe CPU ...
