Re: Installing a folder of my own wallpapers

Gtsfer, initially I copied the wallpapers from a DVD disc to a folder I named wallpapers in pictures. When I tried to access them thumbnails of all of the wallpapers eventually appeared in desktop settings. Sadly, they wouldn't run. I then moved them to the backgrounds directory with the same result...

Re: Installing a folder of my own wallpapers

I tried to open where the wallpaper folder was but the default images ran one after another instead. Do I have to purge my system of those images in order for the program to recognize mine, or do I add mine to one of the existing folders?

Installing a folder of my own wallpapers (Solved)

Recently I installed Linux Mint 18.1 XFCE on my computer and am impressed with it. One of the tweaks I wish to do is to add a very large folder of my own hand-picked wallpapers instead of using the default wallpaper images that come with the distro.. How is this done properly? Thanks.

What plasma version will be in the next Linux Mint KDE release?

Does anyone know what version of Plasma Linux Mint 18 KDE will have when it comes out this summer? Kubuntu 2016.04, just released, is using Plasma 5.5.5. Hopefully Linux Mint 18 KDE will be using Plasma 5.6.x.

Re: Disappearing Title Bars (Solved)

Almost a week after my initial post I am happy to say I have a stable installation of Linux Mint16 KDE 64 bit. On my third attempt I was extremely careful and deliberate with everything I did. I took my time, didn't get crazy with adding tons of applications, and was conservative in the post-install...

Re: Disappearing Title Bars

@ Xenopeek I too thought I might have caused the problem with all the post-installation work I did. In my second attempt to install the distro I added a goodly number of programs but nowhere near as many as the first try. I also had fewer tweaks on the apps I did add and not as many changes on the d...

Disappearing Title Bars (solved)

The other day I decided to install Linux Mint 16 KDE 64 bit on my computer. I wiped the single 500 GB hard drive I had and started the task. All day I toiled through the install, updating the system, adding numerous programs, tweaking all the apps, and getting the distro to look just right. At the e...

Linux Mint 16 KDE stable uploaded to server

I just finished downloading the stable version of Linux Mint 16 KDE 64bit from the NLUUG server in the Netherlands. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the XFCE desktop version there tomorrow.

Re: I have Mint 14. What should I do in April?

@ Bonacieux While normally using an LTS release provides a pleasant trouble free experience I agree that using v.13 LTS with the Cinnamon desktop is a step backwards. That's only because Cinnamon is relatively new and still trying to find its way in the Linux world. There were an awful lot of change...

A question about safely upgrading KDE

At present I have Linux Mint 14 KDE 64 bit on my machine. The version of KDE is 4.9.5. Is it possible to safely upgrade to version 4.11 via ppa? Has anyone in the forum done this? For some strange kernel reason I'm unable to install Linux Mint 15.

newbie question about compatability mode

When I try to run either Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon or KDE from live dvd they freeze up (no mouse or keyboard movement). Can these distributions be installed from compatability mode?

Re: Need help diagnosing kernel panic.

Thanks to zerozero for informiing me that inxi had some sort of glitch. I suspected that something was wrong but as a relative newbie I wasn't sure. The question remains why I can't run the live discs I've burned of the various Linux Mint 15 distros. I haven't a clue where to start on diagnosing why...

Need help diagnosing kernel panic.

Presently I'm running Linux Mint 14 KDE 64 bit and have been doing so for the last six months. When the version Linux Mint 15 desktops came out I downloaded and burned disks of Cinnamon, XFCE and KDE. All three froze up on live bootup. I reinstalled Linux Mint 14 KDE and it works great, or so I thou...

Re: Having problems with Linux Mint 15 freezing on live disk

@wayne128 Perhaps you're right, I don't need the latest and greatest. For now I will stay with Linux Mint 14 KDE 64bit, be content, and patiently wait for the next release. Through the ppas I can upgrade the desktop and some application versions. While Linux Mint 15 KDE would be nice to have it is b...

Problems with Linux Mint 15 freezing on live DVD bootup

Earlier I posted this in the newbie section but didn't get any replies, so now I'll try KDE. I've bee using Linux Mint 14 KDE 64 bit since it was released in December last year. I absolutely love it, so much so that I uninstalled Windows 7 that I was dual booting with. The distro was rock stable wit...

Re: Mint KDE 15

I just used the link given, downloaded the ISO, checked the MD5 checksum, burned it to disk with verification, booted .......and it froze up like a shy boy asking a cheerleader for a date! I doubt this is the stable release, regardless of what's posted.
